Welcome to Swedish Friends of Children in Sri Lanka
The Aid Society Swedish Friends of Children in Sri Lanka was founded in 1980.
We help children in Sri Lanka to a better future. In order to do more – the need is vast – we welcome your support. There are about 500 generous supporters today in Sweden, and our ambition is to become many, many more.
Our projects are focused on education. Good education is a well-proven way to fight poverty, to strengthen people´s self esteem, to improve physical health and to give people the tool to improve quality of life on their own.
Our help is based on three corner stones: Idealistic (non-utilitarian) work, politically independence, and independence from any religion. Consequently, we operate a so called 90 account (with the swedish Plusgiro), all contributions are free from tax.
The Swedish Plusgiro 90-account
As a 90-account organization, all our activities are under strict governmental control. We follow detailed instructions how to keep the accounting books. The accounting books are subject to annual audits, performed by an external auditor. Furthermore, our overhead costs are well below the maximum limit, that is set by the authorities for an organization with a 90-account.
Our task is to create conditions for a better life for the children of Sri Lanka.
How can you help?
The aid society has worked for children in Sri Lanka since 1980. We have just over 600 members. The membership fees go to our newspaper “UTBLICK” (published four times a year), postage, freight and miscellaneous. The entire sponsor fee goes to aid society work. All work within the aid society is idealistic. Every board member works voluntarily. Here are some options to help:
Become a member and sponsor
You support the society’s activities in general. The membership fee is only 300 Swedish crowns, and then you pay a sponsor fee of 150 Swedish crowns three times a year.
Direct support to a project
You can give direct support to a particular project, which you feel is close to your heart. You pay an optional amount into our plusgiro 900139-7. Do not forget to notify which project you would like to support.
Company sponsoring
Convince your employer to support Swedish Friends of Children in Sri Lanka economically. Many companies are interested in taking a social responsibility and contribute to an aid project.
Become a sponsor
Pay the membership fee into plusgiro 900139-7. Do not forget to notify that it concerns NEW MEMBER and state your name and address. You will then receive our membership paper UTBLICK four times a year with current information about our projects and general information from Sri Lanka.

The connection between education and reduced poverty is significant. Good education strengthens self-esteem, health condition, income and possibilities to improve life.
